MY BEST FRIEND DEWEY
A WELL BUILT YOUNG LAD
HE KEEPS HIMSELF EXTREMELY WELL GROOMED
HIS LOOKS ARE NOT BAD
HE WEARS A COAT OF WHITE WITH SPECKS OF BLACK AND BROWN
A BLACK PATCH ON ONE SIDE AND A BROWN ONE SURROUNDS HIS LEFT EYE
MY FRIEND DEWEY CAN BE QUITE THE CLOWN
WHEN I AM DOWN AND UNDER THE WEATHER... DEWEY COMES TO THE RESQUE
HE WILL SPIN IN CIRCLES BARKING AND CLAWING AT THE GROUND TRYING TO RID ME OF MY DREADFUL FROWN
WITH A SMILE.. A PAW TO THE RIBS... A NUDGE WITH HIS NOSE.. AND A LICK TO THE FACE AS TO SAY..
"CHEER UP.. LIFE IS NOT SO BAD"..
WHEN I GO TO TOWN IN MY PICK-UP TRUCK
DEWEY WILL FOR SURE BE THE FIRST ONE IN THE CAB
WE WILL GO AND SPEND A FEW BUCKS
A COUPLE SLICES OF PIZZA... A SANDWHICH.. AND A PEPSI TO GO
DEWEY IS ALWAYS WILLING TO SHARE A BITE OR MORE
I CAN'T THINK OF A TIME HE HAS EVER HAD A COMPLAINT
HE IS THE REAL McCOY STRAIGHT TO THE CORE
WHEN I LAY IN BED AT NIGHT I KNOW I AM IN GOOD HANDS
WITH A BARK OR A HOWEL SOME TIMES A CRAWEL... HE ALARMS ME HE IS ON THE WATCH
CHASING AWAY ANY UNWANTED FANS
WHAT WOULD I HAVE EVER DONE IN THESE TROUBLESOME TIMES
HAD I NOT HAD MY NOBLE FRIEND

CHANCES
LIFE IS LIKE A BAITED HOOK
CAN YOU TAKE THE BAIT WITHOUT BEING CAUGHT BY THE PAIN OF THE HOOK
WILL THE BAIT SATISFY YOUR NEEDS... AND IF YOU ARE CAUGHT BY THE PAIN OF THE HOOK
WIL YOU BE SET FREE...
IS IT GOING TO TAKE YOU WERE YO WANT TO GO...
IS IT GOING TO LED YOU DOWN THE RIGHT ROAD....
TO FIND THIS OUT YOU HAVE TO TAKE THAT CHANCE....
FOR IF YOU PASS IT BY YOU MAY NEVER KNOW JUST WHAT LIE ON THE OTHER SIDE
IF YOU DECIDE TO TAKE THE BAIT... AND ARE CAUGHT BY THE PAIN OF THE HOOK WILL YOU BE SET FREE...
LIFE... IS LIKE A BAITED HOOK.. EITHER GO WITH IT OR LEAVE IT....
LIFELIFE IS LIKE A STORY BOOK..
IS IT GOOD OR IS IT BAD... CAN IT BE A BAITED HOOK...
WHICH ROAD IN THE FORK WILL YOU TAKE.. ONLY YOU CAN MAKE THAT CHOICE
AS LIFE GOES ON NOT KNOWING WHAT THE NEXT PAGE IS GOING TO BRING... YOU TURN THE PAGE TO YOUR STORY BOOK...
SAD AND HAPPY TIMES.. DREAMS THAT TAKE YOU FAR FROM NOW.. HOPING NEVER TO END IN CRIME..
HOW WILL YOU EVER KNOW WHAT LIE IN STORE FOR TOMORROW
UNLESS YOU TURN ANOTHER PAGE IN YOUR STORY BOOK TODAY..
LIFE... CAN IT BE JUST A STORY BOOK...

JOBLESS
AS I LAY ON THE SOFA WATCHING TV
I TRY TO FORGET I NO LONGER HAVE A JOB
WHY DOES THE SHOW'S ON TV ALWAYS END TO REASON
I STAND TO LOSE MY HOME...
I DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY MY RENT
THE ELECTRIC COMPANY HAS THREATEN TO DISCONNECT MY POWER
I CAN NO LONGER MAKE LONG DISTANCE PHONE CALLS IN THE PRESENTS OF MY HOME
WHAT WILL TOMORROW HAVE TO BRING
I'VE BOWED TO BEG TO GIVE ME TIME
I MIGHT FIND A JOB...
YOU ASK WHERE ARE MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY IN THIS TIME OF NEED
I MUST SAY IT SEEMS THEY HAVE NO SPARE MONEY TO LEND..
I HAVE WENT AS FAR AS ASKING THE COUNTY AND STATE FOR HELP
IT SEEMS I NEED A JOB
TO GIVE SECURITY THAT I AM ABLE TO REPAY WHAT THEY GIVE
IF I HAD A JOB...
WOULD I NOW BE ASKING FOR HELP....
WHEN THE SUN DECENDS AND THE MOON CLIMBS UPWARD IN ITS PLACE
WILL I STILL HAVE MY DIGNITY
WHEN THE SUN RISES TO SPREAD ITS GOLDEN LIGHT OVER THE HORIZION
WILL I FIND MYSELF IN MY BED...
WILL I WAKE TO TAKE A SHOWER BUT HAVE NO WATER
TO MAKE BREAKFAST BUT TO HAVE NO ELECTRICITY
TO GLANCE OUTSIDE ONLY TO SEE MY CAR BEING TOWED DOWN THE DRIVEWAY
REPOSSESSED I GUESS...
WHAT WILL I DO...
WHERE WILL I GO...
I TRY TO FORGET WHAT MAY LIE AHEAD
SIPPING DOWN SOME WATER AND ENJOY THE MOMENT AS BEST I CAN
AS I LAY HERE ON THE SOFA WATCHING THE 68TH ACADEMY AWARDS ON MY COLORED
30 INCH TV...

 PROMISE
I WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND
I WANT TO BE YOUR LOVER
I WANT TO LIVE ONE DAY AT A TIME
WITH YOU FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE
I WILL NOT MAKE ANY PROMISES FOR THAT I SHALL NOT KEEP
YOU ARE A PRINCESS
I A WHITE KNIGHT
MY ARMOR SHINES LIKE A SPARKLING DIAMOND IN THE STARLIGHT
I WILL HOLD YOU CLOSE TO ME
WAVING MY BLADE TO STRIKE DOWN THE SHADOW OF DARKNESS
OUR LOVE WILL SHINE THROUGHOUT THE UNIVERSE
FLOWERS OF DAISY'S, VIOLETS, AND ROSES OF ALL COLORS
SHALL REPLENISH THE COUNTRY SIDE
WE SHALL BE AS ONE AND BECOME MANY
I WANT TO BE YOUR FRIEND
I WANT TOBE YOUR LOVER
MOST OF ALL I WANT TO LIVE ONE DAY AT A TIME
WITH YOU FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE
I WILL NOT MAKE ANY PROMISES FOR THAT I SHALL NOT KEEP
I THINK ABOUT YOU ALWAYS
ALL THE SONGS IN THE WORLD
COULD NEVER EXPLAIN THE LOVE THAT I FEEL FOR YOU
THE DEEPEST OCEANS
COULD NEVER HOLD ALL MY LOVE I HAVE TO OFFER YOU
THE HIGHEST MOUNTAINS
COULD NEVER DISCOURAGE THE STRENGTH OF MY LOVE I HAVE IN STORE FOR YOU
I WILL NOT MAKE ANY PROMISES FOR THAT I SHALL NOT KEEP
THOUGH I DO PROMISE
TO LOVE AND TO PROTECT MY PRINCESS
TO THE END OF MY LIFE
I WILL BE YOUR FRIEND
I WILL BE YOUR LOVER
I WILL LIVE ONE DAY AT A TIME
WITH YOU FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE
I WILL NOT MAKE ANY PROMISES
FOR THAT I SHALL NOT
KEEP

 THE DREAM
I HAD ANOTHER DREAM LAST NIGHT IT SEEMED SO REAL
WE WERE TOGETHER, BUT THEN IT WAS JUST A DREAM.
IT REMINDED ME OF HOW MUCH I LOVED AND MISSED YOU A GREAT DEAL, AND
IF I COULD WRITE A SONG ON HOW I FEEL ABOUT YOU I'D HAVE IT SAY,
"IF IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO YOU, I"LL GROW OLD LOVING YOU".
I HAVE BEEN WRITING A LOT OF LETTERS, IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE HOW I FEEL
OR WHAT I HAVE BEEN THROUGH BY LOSING YOU.  DO ME ONE LAST FAVOR IF YOU WILL,
BEFORE YOU GO MAYBE IF YOU COULD, YOU WOULD SET ME FREE.
SINGE ME A SONG, A SONG IF YOU WOULD,
"IF IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO YOU, I"LL GROW OLD LOVING YOU".
I'VE TRIED TO GO ON WITH MY LIFE WITHOUT YOU
WENT ON DATES, BUT SOMETHINK INSIDE ME JUST TORE ME AWAY.
I SENSE THE DAYS AHEAD WILL ALWAYS BE BLUE.
NOW YOU HAVE GONE I FIND IT HARD TO LOVE ANOTHER AND
IF I COULD SING I'D SING YOU A SONG,
"IF IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO YOU, I"LL GROW OLD LOVING YOU".
NOW THAT I AM OLD AND GRAY, LOVE HAS LEFT ME ALL ALONE
I LAY ME DOWN TO DREAM A DREAM OF LOVE LONG GONE.
NOW THERE IS STILL A LOT OF LOVEIN THESE OLD BONES AND
IF I COULD SING I'D SING YOU A SONG,
"IF IT MAKES NO DIFFERENCE TO YOU, I'VE GROWN OLD LOVING YOU".
I HAD ANOTHER DREAM LAST NIGHT IT SEEMED SO REAL
WE WERE BACK TOGETHER..., BUT WAS IT JUST A DREAM?
LOVE
I WONDER IS IT REALLY WORTH ALL THE PAIN
TO TAKE A FEW CHANCES
AS DOES THE CLOUDS THAT BRINGS THE RAINS
IT'S UNCONTROLLABLE AND JUST HAPPENS
WOULDN'T YOU SAY THAT'S WHAT LOVE IS ALL ABOUT
I WONDER IS IT REALLY WORTH ALL THE PAIN
SHARING A ICE CREAM CONE WITH ONE ANOTHER IN THE PARK
TO TELL YOUR DEEPEST SECRETES TO YOUR SPECIAL LOVED ONE
JUST THE TWO OF YOU ALONE IN THE DARK
WOULDN'T YOU SAY THAT'S WHAT LOVE IS ALL ABOUT
I WONDER IS IT REALLY WORTH ALL THE PAIN
LOVE HAS GONE LIKE THE CLOUDS HAVE LEFT THE RAINS
NOW YOU STAND ALONE
YOUR HEART THROBBING WITH PAIN
AS TEARS ARISE FROM YOUR EYES
THINKING BACK ON THE TIMES TOGETHER
YOU FIND IT'S TIME TO SAY
GOODBYE
GROWING UP
GROWING UP WHO WOULD NOW WHAT THE DAYS AHEAD WILL HAVE TO BRING.
MOMS, DADS, BROTHERS, AND SISTERS WILL GROW
CHILDREN WILL EVOLVE INTO ADULTS EAGER TO LEAVE
THE NEST
AS EACH TAKES THEIR OWN ROAD THEY WILL EXPERIENCE LOVE, HATE, AND JEALOUSY
SOME WILL BE LOST, AND SOME WILL BE FOUND.
AS LONG AS THEY CAN RETURN HOME THEY WILL ALWAYS FIND ARMS WILLING TO GIVE THEM LOVE,
THAT SPECIAL HUG, WORDS OF WISDOM, AND EVERYTHING WILL BE ALL RIGHT.
FOR GROWING UP IS NOT AN EASY TASK BUT WE MUST ALL DO IT AT SOME POINT IN LIFE.
GROWING UP WHO WOULD KNOW WHAT YESTERDAY, TODAY, TOMORROW, OR NEXT WEEK WILL HAVE TO
BRING.
STAGES OF LIFE
A BABY, A YOUNG BOY, TO A MAN
A BROTHER TO A FATHER, UNCLE OR MAYBE GRANDFATHER
WHAT'S THE MEANING OF IT ALL..., THE STAGES OF LIFE
PLAYING CHILDHOOD GAMES TO ADULT GAMES
SCHOOL AS A CHILD FUN AND JUST SOME WHERE TO GO
WORKING AS A TEENAGER A WAY TO EARN SPENDING MONEY
COLLEGE A WAY OF LIFE TO MAKE SOMETHING OF YOURSELF
WORKING AS AN ADULT A RESPONSIBLITY, A WAY OF SURVIVING
FOR SOME PEOPE MARRIAGE, DIVORCE, LOSS OF LOVE ONE
WHAT'S THE MEANING OF IT ALL...., THE STAGES OF LIFE
A BABY, A YOUNG BOY, TO A MAN...........
STRANGER
ONE HOT HUMID SUMMER NIGHT IN A SMALL TOWN FAR FROM ANY WHERE,
A DANCE WAS ABOUT TO BEGIN.  THE TOWN WAS BEGINNING TO CRAWL WITH PICKUPS
AND CARS RACING TO GET A CLOSE PARKING SPOT NEAR THE OLD DANCE HALL.
PARENTS AND YOUNG CHILDREN TO TEENAGERS GATHERING TO DANCE THE NIGHT AWAY
WITH MUSIC PLAYED BY THE SMALL TOWN BAND.
A STRANGER STOOD STANDING ALONE IN A SHADOW OF DARKNESS ALONG THE DANCE HALL.
HE IS WEARING BLUE JEANS, SPORTCOAT, AND SNAKE SKIN BOOTS WITH A BLACK STETSON
COWBOY HAT MINDING HIS OWN BUSINESS DIRNKING A WHISKEY.  THE STRANGER OVER HEARD
TWO YOUNG MEN TALKING ABOUT A PRETTY YOUNG LADY DRESSED IN JEANS, BOOTS, AND A LOVELY WESTERN SHIRT.  HER HAIR, IS LONG IN LENGTH, WITH A WAVE OF CURL, AND BLOND AS A PALOMINO HORSE'S MAIN.  SHE HAS EYES AS BLUE AS THE SKY, AFTER A HEAVY RAIN.  HER LEGS LONG AND SLENDER
AND FULL OF POWER AS SHE HAS DEMONSTRATED BY THE WAY SHE DANCES.
OH HOW THE YOUNG MAN WANTED TO DANCE WITH THIS PRETTY YOUNG FILLY, BUT JUST DIDN'T
HAVE THE NERVE TO TAKE THE CHANCE, AFRAID HE MIGHT BE TURNED DOWN.  THE STRANGER
SPOKE, "GO AHEAD YOUNG MAN ASK HER TO DANCE, SHE'LL SAY YES."
THE YOUNG MAN SPUN AROUND AND LOOKED AT THE STRANGER IN AMAZEMENT, NOT
KNOWING THAT HE HAD HEARD WHAT HE AND HIS FRIEND HAD BEEN TALKING ABOUT.
THE STRANGER BEGAN TO SPEAK, "ALL SHE NEEDS IS A SOFT TOUCH AND SOME TENDER LOVING
CARE.  BE GENTLE, GUIDE HER THROUGH THE STEPS AND YOU WILL DO JUST FINE.  TELL HER HOW
PRETTY SHE IS, AND ASK HER IF YOU CAN GET HER SOMETHING TO DRINK.  THEN ASK HER FOR
A DANCE, HOLD HER TIGHT BE SURE SHE IS ABLE TO MOVE FREELY.  IF YOU WANT THIS
DREAM OF YOURS TO COME TRUE, ASK HER IF YOU CAN SEE HER AGAIN, I AM SURE
SHE WILL SAY YES."  THEN THE STRANGER TURNED TO WALK AWAY, THE YOUNG MAN
GRABBED THE STRANGER BY THE ARM AND ASKED, "HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS TO BE."
THE STRANGER TOOK A SWALLOW OF HIS WHISKEY AND REPLIED, "SHE IS MY DAUGHTER..,
SHE'S MY DAUGHTER THAT'S HOW I KNOW," AS HE TURNED AND
FADED OFF INTO THE BLINDING DARK OF THE NIGHT.
